RESUMO
A morfologia tem importante papel no fomento de informações as áreas afins e dentre estas a emergente odontologia veterinária. Com o objetivo de se conhecer melhor a irrigação lingual, estudou-se as origens e distribuições das artérias linguais direita e esquerda em trinta suínos natimortos da raça piau de machos e fêmeas. Utilizou-se à técnica de dissecação, por meio da qual os referidos vasos foram injetados com solução corada de neoprene látex 601A R. Constatou-se que as artérias linguais tiveram, em 100,0 por cento dos animais estudados, suas origens rostralmente aos segmentos iniciais das artérias carótidas externas e que ambas emitiram 9 (nove) colaterais, sendo estes as artérias: palatinas ascendentes, ramos peri-hióideos, faríngeas ascendentes, faríngeas descendentes, ramos musculares, dorsais da língua, submentonianas, sublinguais e profundas da língua. Nominação esta de acordo com suas áreas de distribuições, que se fizeram notar de maneira expressiva na região ventral da cavidade oral.
In veterinary medicine, the morphology plays an important role by intensifyng the knowledge for the emergent area of veterinary odontology. In order to better know the irrigation of this organ, were studied the origins and distributions of the right and left lingual arteries in thirty dead born swine of the race piau. Thus, utilized the techniques of anatomical of dissection. The refered vessels were injected with a 601A neoprene latex solutions for the development of this by dissection, it has found that the lingual arteries arose front to the initial segments of the external carotide arteries in 100,0 per cent of the studied animals. In addition, each lingual arterie gave off about 9 (nine) collateral branches, which were clustered and denominated according to the distribuitions areas found in the ventral region of the oral cavity.
